COMPEX was the brainchild of co-founders Dr. James Matejka and Ben Reeves, who reasoned that a joint show for all local clubs that staged small annual exhibitions could be a significant event. From the show’s beginning, each involved club presented its own exhibits (and judged them as they saw fit). The show has no overall exhibit awards (and thus does not qualify as an APS “World Series of Philately” show). It has been our delight to present gold-medal/ grand-award exhibits from international-caliber philatelists alongside the first exhibits from novice collectors. COMPEX thus caters to collectors of all ages and all levels. We have had powerful special exhibits at some of our past shows, such as a show given over to the philately of Canada – and the Collectors Club of Chicago exhibits since 2016. We hope you will join us for an enjoyable weekend of a hobby that still holds charm for many of us.
